World-class sound, comfort and workflow
Unwound comprises a large, double-height live room, a mezzanine-level control room, multiple iso rooms, and a relaxed lounge space.
Upstairs, the control room is designed around a broadcast-heritage Calrec analogue console, ATC monitoring, a host of characterful outboard, and a choice of Pro Tools, Ableton, or Logic, with the option to work from your own machine.
The main live room connects to three additional acoustic spaces, including a dedicated bass booth and amp room, allowing for flexible setups when recording bands, ensembles, or experimental projects. This layout supports both isolation and interaction without compromising sightlines or feel.
A considered backline is available for use, including an upright piano, drum kits, guitars, amplifiers, and a selection of synthesisers. Full technical details are listed on the equipment page.
The studio is regularly used for full-band tracking, drum recording, vocal recording, piano overdubs, production work and writing sessions. It’s suited to artists and producers looking for a professional, comfortable recording environment that remains straightforward and human to work in.
We also welcome filming. Our live sessions have been featured on KEXP, NPR Tiny Desk, Boiler Room, ID, and Boss / Roland product demos.
